5 Players the Dallas Cowboys should be looking at in the 2013 NFL Draft

Barrett Jones Position: C, OG School: Alabama Projected Round: 1 Before the Cowboys look at running back, pass rushers or even upgrading the quarterback position they have to do something about the offensive line if you can’t protect in this league you can’t win. I think everyone in Dallas is tired of the false starts and missed assignments its time to bring in a guy to help sure up that line & Jones is the guy. He's a 2 time all-American & a flat out stud he's played Tackle, Guard & Center & excelled at each position. Jones is a perfect fit for the Cowboys & I'd love to see our first round pick spent on him or the other Bama lineman Chase Womack
Eric Ried Position: Saftey School: LSU Projected Round: 1-3 One of the Cowboys biggest problems on defense is their safety play, without a question the Cowboys probably have the worst tandem of safeties in the NFL. With that being said they could cure all of that by drafting a guy like Ried who is a ball hawk & is excellent in run support. Ried won’t only upgrade the position he will bring a toughness to this secondary that is much needed. The Cowboys are a bad tackling team & I believe a guy like Eric Ried can help that, & with the tight ends emerging in the NFL you need a safety that can cover those guys as well as the slot wide out and without a question Ried has all of those skills.
Jonathan Franklin Position: RB School: UCLA Projected Round: 3-5 Jonathan Franklin is a STEAL in round 3 or any round lower, this is an every down back that catches the ball very well, makes great moves in space, can put his head down for extra yard & has the speed to out run defenders. He's 5th in the nation with 1700 rushing yards & 13 touchdowns while also adding on 30+ catches for over 300 yards. Look bottom line is Felix Jones is old and no longer the answer he can break any second out there, Murray is a stud but he gets hurt way too much you can’t depend on him for a full season, with that being said if the Cowboys draft Jonathan Franklin they will have a every down back & a future pro bowler for the next 5-8 years.
Jesse Williams Position: NT School: Alabama Projected Round 2-4 The Cowboys need to find some relief for Jay Ratliff, he's getting up there in age so it’s time to start finding a guy to take some of those reps at the nose & Jesse Williams is perfect for that. Ratliff is more of a pass rusher so we'd be able to play Jesse on the dominate run downs & throw Ratliff back in on 3rd down & let him have at the qb. Not only is Williams a perfect fit for this defense he's your prototypical nose tackle, big, fat, strong, strong arms, low center gravity, etc. He's a guy you’re not going to move & in a 3-4 that’s important, he can hold up the center and guard & allow for guys like Bruce Carter & Sean Lee to blitz the gap with ease.
Chase Thomas Position: OLB School: Stanford Projected Round 1-3 Chase Thomas is a high energy guy from Stanford who can play inside linebacker as well as the 3-4 rush outside backer. I've watched some of Thomas' games this year and was so impressed with his motor; the kid is relentless & tough as nails. Chase thrives blitzing off the edge which makes him an ideal pass rusher in the Cowboys 3-4 scheme. Chase Thomas is the perfect complement to Ware & Spencer he plays the run really well & like I said he is tough off the edge & will add toughness to this defense that is lacking. He's also a sure tackle so again it will help sure up that defense. Thomas has 7.5 sacks on the year I believe he would clearly have double digits if it was his job to rush the qb every down.
